Monday, February 7th is the first day to pull a petition for anyone planning to run for office in Maury County in 2022. You do this by going to the Maury County Election Commission (1207A Tradewinds Drive in Columbia).
Petitions are due back to the Maury County Election Commission on Thursday, April 7th.
Write-in candidacies may be declared after that date, but anyone interested in running as a Democrat (or Independent) is encouraged to file by the deadline.

To be nominated as a Democrat you must:
- Be eligible to be be elected (at the minimum, you must be a registered voter in this county).
- Be a “bona fide” Democrat as determined by our Executive Committee. While this is a flexible and inclusive standard, we reserve the right to challenge anyone who does not appear to sincerely adhere the Democratic Party’s values and platform.
